Indiana bridges scraboard begins 3 D adventure
Typically when I need to adhere some large or heavy item to a board, I'll use a strong bonding glue with a clever name like Gorilla Glue or Epoxy Heaven. This weekend, I decided to use my glue gun! The glue gun took a while to heat up. Then there was a weird smell, and when I fired it, the glue came out quickly. I wasn't prepared for it. It got messy. These thin glue strands, like a spider's web went everywhere! At least the glue worked. I don't think the bridge will be coming off the plywood. That's what we want with glue, though, right?

Scrapboarding generates new fine art with old photos
I love black and white photographs. They are beyond "vintage." They are our family history. Scrapboarding seeks to release photos from their dusty scrapbooks and highlight them on the walls with paint, paper and frames in 3 D!

Photos and lettering added to Indiana Covered Bridges
Progress is slow but steady on Indiana bridges scrapboard. I used the lettering from the Hatch Print Shop ink press book and the photo of the Mecca Bridge to get things moving. My husband Brian was kind enough to saw a piece of wood in half for me which will begin to make the artwork 3-D. I'm stoked!
PS Made a sale to a wonderful sister-in-law Charlene. That really perked me up, too!

Gallery 104 juried competition: Will Frosty Mugs get into the show?
There is an element of suspence and a confidence issue when it comes to competing for space at a juried art exhibit. "Frosty Mugs, the Barking Therapy Dog" made it into the show as an alternate, if there is room after all the front runners get hung. Meaning, if there is extra space.
I love this scrapboard. It's based on the Hatch Print Shop poster method which originated in Nashville, Tennessee, from the 1800s! Hope you like it. I do.

Italian Glass
Authentic Italian glass can not be copied though many attenpts are made. "Murano glass" - as it is called - is one of the most beautiful rich and colorful "jewels" to behold. Visiting Italy, I had the chance to spend time at the studio where blowing of the glass is practiced. The glass is called Murano glass from an island off the coast of Italy where it is made. Visiting our friends last night who lived in Italy for several years for military deployments, I captured this photo of their hand blown lamp "shades" from Italy.

Greeting card Cherry Blossom, Washington, D.C.
The sweet smell of spring cherry blossoms isn't too far away. I worked diligently over the weekend to prepare some spring greeting cards. This greeting card photo is one of my all time favorites taken in 2000 with a 35 mm camera. Now, the photo has found new life, digitally remasterd. Each of my cards is hand-made with attention to detail. I cut out this embellisment (design circa mid-1800s) with tiny craft scissors. (Frosty Mugs chewed up the handles so there is a gap where the thumb goes in.)and used my favorite adhesive, Golden gel medium, to secure the sequins. Selling the cards is super, but making the cards is spectacular!
